I don’t know about the rest of you, but personally I am sick of watching and listening to our disgusting Lebanese politics.
Sometimes I would be watching and for a second I think, hmmm this guy is talking some sense and then he switches 180 degrees and talks in an extreme manner that is just gross and I can’t believe they actually talk like that so openly!
I can’t remember when was the last time I really enjoyed listening to any one of our politicians.
One of the politicians recently wondered how can someone be neither March 8th or March 14th. He said you can either be with or against their beliefs and goals. He added all those in between (he was talking about Presidential candidates in general) are nobodies but with all due respect to all of them (called them nobodies but was respectful about it! ROFL). What sort of logic is that?
I was with the March 14th movement since I did believe in the revolution they represented and the changes they demanded. I would like to remind such politicians or thinkers that it is the 1.5 million (as claimed) people who were in the square on March 14th that created something called March 14th. People traveled a long way within Lebanon, several traveled to Lebanon, just to be part of this great revolution.
Do you think that March 14th was incapable of accomplishing 90% of their goals because March 8th did not allow them to do so?
The revolution has dried out. Peoples’ lives in Lebanon is the same as it always has been. Insecure, instable, and fearful of the next day.
Let me know what you think… Do you believe things will change in Lebanon anytime soon for the people?
Rampurple,
last week I wrote a post regarding my extreme disgust with the language of Lebanese politicians, be it any side.
To cut things short, I don’t think things will change soon. Not at all. However, after 2 years of uncertainty, fear and instability, things seem to be slowly uncovering into a brighter theme. At least, the Lebanese army proved victorious after a lot of speculation regarding their unreadiness and incapabilities going into such a fight.
However, we still have the presidential campaign coming up. We still have to resolve the HA armament or disarmament. We still have to see politicians like Jumblat retire. We still await the verdict of the Hariri killings. We still need to assert the Syrian borders and a real diplomatic relationship with Syria. We still have the Israeli situation to consider. Add to that, the Palestinian. We still need to see the Lebanese confessional system/constitution substituted for something more efficient and less sectarian.
Very long list.
I am very rarely watching the news, I just wait till they finish showing what is happening in Naher L bared and go check something that actually changes from day to day unlike the “crisis” that we are in were people are still repeating the same words for a year now!! ma zeh2o????
March 14 was made by the people and killed by politicians, I still remember my mom telling me to ignore them and that they will fight each others again soon, and I used to tell her that she was wrong, that we were leading the revolution that we are not like them, that we will change the country, I still remember everyday and every night I spent in the demos dreaming about change, w lek wein sorna!

Do you believe things will change in Lebanon anytime soon for the people?
The people need to change first.
Losing one’s illusions is a necessary first step in order not to be disappointed.
Change will not come from the top, our leaders thrive on the status quo. It is up to us to start something.
