When I started blogging 4 or 5 years ago, there were only a handful of blogs in the area. It was nice reading other blogs from the region and being online friends with them, mostly just through comments.
Today, there are approximately 450 blog on Lebanon’s Aggregator and I think around the same amount on Safat, Kuwait blogs’ aggregator. I would be lying if I said I read all of them, or even 10% of them. I usually scroll through the aggregators checking for interesting posts, so I really am not blog loyal (as in I don’t follow a certain blogger).
Recently, I’ve realized I read a lot more Lebanese blogs than Kuwaiti blogs. I think there are a lot more personal blogs in Kuwait than in Lebanon and I am not too interested to read about what some lady did with her new husband or anything of that sort. Nor am I interested in reading spoof blogs, or blogs that just attack other bloggers. I still find interesting posts sometimes but usually its on what’s new. New technology, or new stores, or stuff that interest me personally
It is true that most Lebanese blogs tend to write on political subjects which I have been avoiding a lot recently, UNLESS it was written by a blogger who writes a healthy post, meaning not only does the blogger state their opinion without insulting anyone, they include sources, references, and facts. Their comments always remain healthy and clean. You also have a lot of artistic blogs that are fun to check out.
It’s always been interesting to check out how the world of blogging is constantly changing.
When I have some extra time on my hands I always check out itoot as well for a regional round up.
You’re doing a great job at “Lebanon’s Aggregator”
If I write a blog in Lebanese, would it be considered one?
M Bashir, thanks!
Purgie, Purgie, Purgie…. NO!
the blogs reflect the mood of the country , when kuwait was in parliment election most blogs were talking political , now its not highly political mood in kuwait , poeple are going on their normal life
while in lebanon its bomb here and bomb there since last year , the mood isn’t the same
some people can write about their life and it would be more intersting that political blog , but hey , everyone got something he enjoy and not every one has the same taste
Foraq8, its true that blogs reflect the mood of the country. I did not say I prefer political blogs, I actually said I avoid them. (Just a clarification)
I also agree that people can write about their lives and it would be more interesting than a political blog, and each person does have their own taste yet keep in mind that I didn’t say they are not good blogs (who am I to judge anyways) what I did say is that I am not interested in reading spoof blogs, blogs that just attack others, or personal blogs.
You hate Kuwaitis ..
lol K!
keep that on marks blog!
I think aggregators collect junk but it serves the general purpose catering to the masses
No to being considered lebanese or No to writing in lebanese?
Oor eh paghnikeh?
I’m soo sad right now! You aren’t loyal to me anymore?
error, aggregators collect all the blogs. one mans junk is another mans treasure.
